Connecting a Hub in a Meeting Room
GuestLinX provides each property with one 8-port hub and a number of Cat. 5 Ethernet cables. If you need additional supplies, please see the Supply Order Form located in the Meeting Services kit.
To connect the hub, first plug the hub's power supply into the wall near the
GuestLinX jack. Check the hub and make certain that the power light is on, then plug a standard Cat. 5 Ethernet cable into the
GuestLinX jack on the wall.
Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the port on the hub marked "UPLINK." If the hub does not have an "UPLINK" port, simply plug the cable into port 1. Some ports will have a button that indicates an uplink status or a normal status. Make certain that the button is set for uplink.
At this point, you can connect the computers to the hub as shown in the diagram below. Starting with the computers off, plug them into the numbered ports on the hub using Cat. 5 Ethernet cables. Turn the computers on and open a Web browser. If a Web page is loaded, the hub is connected and working properly. If not, check to make sure everything is connected as detailed above. When everything is connected, it should look something like this:
If the service is not working through the hub, try bypassing the hub.
