Connection Information for Wired Ethernet Connections in Hotel Guestrooms

To connect, start with your computer off and plug an Ethernet cable into the GuestLinX desk port located on top of the desk. (See picture below.) Then turn the computer on and when the computer is finished loading, open a Web browser and try to go to a public Web site (such as www.yahoo.com). At this point, you should see the GuestLinX Welcome Page.

If you do not arrive at the GuestLinX Welcome Page, check to see if you have an activity light or link light on your computer or dongle. (If your notebook computer or Ethernet card do not have a link light, then proceed to the next paragraph.) If activity light/link light is on, then your computer settings need to be checked. See the sections on Checking Your IP Address and Checking Your Web Browser Settings for more information.

If there is not a link light or you do not have one, then try replacing the Ethernet cable, as it may be bad. If replacing the Ethernet cable does not fix the problem, try to bypass the desk port by removing it from the wall and plugging the Ethernet cable directly into the GuestLinX Ethernet jack on the wall. If at this point you do not have a connection, please call GuestLinX Technical Operations Center toll-free at 1-800-266-3585 for assistance.

(Note: In a guestroom, it is only possible to connect one computer unless you provide your own hub. If you do provide a hub, each computer connected to it will have a regular guestroom charge and you will be responsible for troubleshooting your equipment.)
