Connection Information for Wired Ethernet Connections in Hotel Meeting Facilities
To connect one computer (desktop, notebook or other network-ready device) to the
GuestLinX service in a meeting room: With the computer off, connect an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet card to the
GuestLinX Ethernet jack on the wall; turn the computer on, and after it has started up, open a Web browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) and try to go to a public Web site (such as
www.yahoo.com). You will then be redirected to the
GuestLinX Welcome Page for meeting rooms. The password for the meeting room connection is assigned by the hotel's meeting coordinator.
If you did not see the GuestLinX Welcome Page first, contact the meeting coordinator to make sure that the port is enabled in the meeting room.
Once you have confirmed that the meeting room port is enabled, check to make sure that a normal (non-crossover) Ethernet (RJ-45 Cat. 5) cable is being used. If this is not the case, replace the cable with an Ethernet cable, then restart the computer. If you are using an Ethernet cable and are not connecting, replace the cable and restart the computer, as the cable may be bad. If you are still unable to connect, check the computer's settings.
